The biggest event in the year is Feis Ile Whisky Festival. But not everyone is able to make this pilgrimage. Bunnahabhain want to bring Feis Ile to the world, making this experience accessible to all. They want to bring them into the Bunnahabhain world no matter where they are and create our own community around the festival experience. A community of like-minded individuals, lovers of whisky, those who love to debate, discuss and savour their whiskies. The idea for this release was inspired by the visitors who make the pilgrimage across the globe, to come to their distillery for Feis Ile. We invite them into the iconic Warehouse 9, to taste drams directly from casks. Bunnahabhain wanted to open this up to more people around the world. Sharing drams from Bunnahabhain that that represent our distillery’s character. Not everyone has the opportunity to make the pilgrimage to Islay. But the Bunnahabhain Feis Ile release allows them to open up their offerings & experiences to more people.
Abhainn Araig means ‘Araig River,’ which is a river located on Islay. This river feeds in to the Margadale River, the spring water source for all of our Bunnahabhain whisky. The Araig water is vital to the production process at Bunnahabhain, as it feeds our distillery with the cooling water for the condensers.
The Abhainn Araig is a marriage of Bunnahabhain spirit that has been matured in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry, octave casks, made from the finest specially seasoned European oak. Octave casks are some of the smallest and most concentrated casks, producing a rich, sticky, intense Bunnahabhain. This spirit has then been expertly married with Bunnahabhains that have been matured in ex-bourbon & Oloroso sherry casks, to create complexity & balance. This makes a beautifully balanced flavours of milk chocolate, raisins and raspberries, giving way to balsamic vinegar and honeyed macadamias and a deep toffee finish with a spicy cinnamon burst.

Nose: Chocolate, powdered ginger and cigar box.
Taste: a velvety rich texture, initially creamy milk chocolate then sweet raisins and dried raspberries. As the PX develops balsamic vinegar and honeyed macadamias come through.
Finish: deep and rich, with dark toffee and a final spicy burst of cinnamon
