THE SPEYSIDE JOURNEY
No, not the town. of the same name that is in Fife in eastern Scotland but rather the ancient village of Rothes located on Speyside that has a history of almost 1000 years.
Formerly home to five distilleries all are hidden away up little side streets apart from Glen Grant. This distillery that has lived in the shadow of others for too long, jumping between the Edrington Group and Berry Brothers in the past 20 years. In that time at Edrington, Macallan and Highland Park were the giants, but it is wonderful to see Glenrothes regain its rightful place on Speyside.
The distillery is separated from Glen Grant by the local cemetery and it is said the two distilleries even share ghosts including Biawa Makalanga, a Masai orphan brough back to Scotland from Africa by the then owners of another distillery.

Pre Octavation
Apple pie, over-ripe fruits, vanilla pod. It was a great choice of initial casks prior to Octave, an American Oak Hogshead.
Mid Octavation
Orchard fruits dominate throughout with over-ripe notes. Crème Caramel hints, a little spice starts to appear due to the octave.
Post octavation
Rich honeyed toffee is mouth-coating and a little spicy, with cinnamon leading the way. It is full of character and driven by brandy snaps, oats, and lots of fruit.
About The Collection
Octave Invigorated Whiskies
For upwards of 40 years the team at Duncan Taylor has experimented by maturing whiskies in smaller
casks with great success. Our research stemmed from the simple premise that there is more wood interaction with whisky over a shorter period of time in a small cask than in a large cask, therefore allowing a more rapid melding of wood, air and alcohol.
After a second maturation the octave casks have refined the whisky, enhancing its hue, taste, form and character. The flavour profile is gently expanded, a little more sophisticated with the commanding presence of a mature, well-balanced Scotch Whisky.
They have become ‘Octave Invigorated™.
The Octave Collection is extensive with something for all tastes, be it a single malt, a single grain or a blended malt whisky. Featured distilleries include Aultmore, Bhunnahabhain, Brackla, Caol Ila, Glenallachie, Glen Moray, Highland Park, Miltonduff and Tobermory.
