This Dumbarton was distilled in 1964 it was allowed to mature in oak casks for 58 years and was bottled in the at cask strength 53.5%, with no colouring or chill filtration. It is a single cask DT1008 that produced a limited amount of bottles.

For many years the Dumbarton Grain Distillery was the most recognisable building in the town, built using red brick it could be see for many miles around even across the estuary of the River Clyde. Owned for large percentage of it's life by Allied Distillers it was a big component for brands such as Ballantines and Stewarts Cream of the Barley among others. Using corn as its main cereal it produced a very different style of spirit from the company's other grain distillery at Strathclyde in central Glasgow. The site also had pot stills on site making the Inverleven single malt. — Ian Logan Duncan Taylor Senior Spirits Manager.

Duncan Taylor is renowned for the quality and breadth of its casks of single grain scotch whiskies. The whiskies are matured at their original distilleries to allow them to mature in the environment they which they were distilled in keeping as much of the distilleries' character as possible, they are only bottled when they reach the optimum age and quality.
