A special limited-edition gin that tells a story, from 1839 to today.
Infused with heritage
Introducing Carthorse Gin - a name inspired by the animals that inspired such compassion that led to the foundation of the Scottish SPCA.
In 1839, a group of compassionate Scotsmen came together to take a stand against animal cruelty. Their first mission? To support the hardworking horses of Leith - the lifeline of the community, powering everything from deliveries and farming to transport and mining.
These animals were essential to our way of life - but they were overworked, often to the brink of collapse.
It was time for change
The first Scottish SPCA Centre was set up as a rest farm, to take in tired horses and get them back on their feet. Aware of the importance of these animals to people’s livelihoods, we loaned healthy horses to struggling families and businesses so they could keep earning a living whilst their horse was away.
As years passed, our work grew - but our values stayed the same: compassion, care, and community.
Now, you can raise a glass to history
Carthorse Gin is a limited-edition release available this Summer only. For every bottle sold, £8 goes directly to the Scottish SPCA, helping us continue our mission to make Scotland the best place in the world for an animal to call home.
Toast to the past, support the future.
