The Balvenie Doublewood celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018, proving its status as a core member of the Balvenie family of whiskies. Called the Doublewood due to being aged in two different types of cask before being harmoniously married together, this bottle is a perfect balance of the two influences and great for any collection. The whisky starts in ex-bourbon cases before being transferred to first-fill sherry casks which allow for a deeper flavour to develop. As one of the Balvenie’s most popular expressions, the Doublewood is sure to be enjoyed by any whisky enthusiast for its rich and complex structure.
Tasting Notes
Nose - initial honey and vanilla influences combined with dried fruit and Oloroso sherry
Taste - Honey and nutty flavours and spiciness with layered cherry, orange and sherry notes show the perfect balance of the two ageing methods.
Palate - Warming sweetness, persistent fruits and a long finish.
