A rare sight as a single malt, Fettercairn’s 12-Year-Old is a distinct expression of premium quality. The distillery in Fettercairn typically supplies whisky for blends, like that of Whyte & Mackay's flagship brand. This makes the 12-Year-Old expression part of a rarer family of bottles distributed by the distillery. Matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, the 12-Year-Old is filled with floral notes of fruit, roasted coffee flavours and a hint of ginger spiciness. This is a light and well-balanced bottle from a distillery with a lot of history which is sure to creep into the spotlight.
Nose - Floral fruits like pear and orange, with notes of vanilla and a slight spiciness.
Palate - More fruit flavours, ginger cake and a touch of vanilla. Deeper flavours include coffee and toffee with an oaky woodiness.
Finish - Short finish with a mixture of chocolate, vanilla and more fruit.
