This Caledonian was distilled in 04.1987 it was allowed to mature in oak casks for 34 years and was bottled in the 08.2021 at cask strength 52.7%, with no colouring or chill filtration. It is a single cask that produced a limited amount of 210 bottles.

"The distillery was founded in 1855 by messers Menzies, Bernard & Craig, the following year entering into the same agreement but having the right to distil41.5% of all grain spirit produced in Scotland (Carsebridge was only 15%). Grain whisky at that time was also known as Irish !!!! To that degree the owners fitted two huge pot stills in an effort to replicate the style produced by the Dublin distillers at that time. This another distillery owned by the Distiller Company Limited and didn't survive the whisky downturn of the 1980's closing its door in 1987." - Ian Logan Duncan Taylor Senior Spirits Manager.

Duncan Taylor is renowned for the quality and breadth of its casks of single grain scotch whiskies. The whiskies are matured at their original distilleries to allow them to mature in the environment they which they were distilled in keeping as much of the distilleries' character as possible, they are only bottled when they reach the optimum age and quality.

Nose - Unmistakably a classic older grain whisky, with vanilla, coconut, and a touch of fresh oak sawdust. Ripe yellow plums and red toffee apple are also present. A touch of buttery lemon, chopped fresh coriander and a hint of tamarind, offset the sweetness. All very well-balanced and inviting.

Palate - The fruits of the nose persist on the palate. This time more on green fruits, apple, honeydew melon, and a hint of unripe green banana. Some spun sugar, but the sweetness is not cloying and all is balanced by a ripple of soft oaky spice, with coriander seed and gentle pepper.

Finish - Full, long and lingering. Pears poached in sweet white wine, sweet and buttery apple pastries baked with almond paste. Again, some soft herbal spice cuts through the sweetness and makes the whole wonderfully appealing.
