A wonderfully sweet, toffee like grain whisky. Hints of breakfast cereal this wheat led grain reminds me of bubble gum and gentle spice. Distilled in the centre of Glasgow which at one time was also home to the very rare Kinclaith Single Malt.

Before

Nose - Sugar almonds and red apple skins. Fresh and floral.

Palate - More spicy than on the nose. Herbs, especially fresh mint provide the balance to the sweetness, and nicely coats the mouth.

Finish - Dried fruits emerge and the nuttiness of the nose returns.

After

Nose - Very attractive. A buttery, new-baked, fresh fruit Danish pastry with caramelised pear and forest fruits. Salted caramel and dark brown sugar. Soft notes of toasted oak and vanilla. Later, a soft tang of sweet citrus appears.

Palate - A stack of pancakes smothered in maple syrup and salted butter. Multi layered and complex. More chocolate than the nose, with milk chocolate covered raisins and peanuts. Very creamy, with the fruits of the nose persistent. A gentle spiciness of cinnamon and nutmeg with some toasted oak that warms the palate.

Finish - Stewed summer berries and soft brown sugar that offsets the warming spiciness. Very fresh and appears delicate, but with a surprising amount of power and heft underneath. As the spices fade the sweetness returns.
