The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve is created in honour of distillery founder George Smith, who opened the distillery in 1824. The Founder's Reserve has history running through it, with traditional processes and ingredients used back in Smith's day all playing a part. It has a smooth, fruity taste to match the vision that George Smith had for his whiskies, and is created in his original, unique, lantern-shaped copper stills designed by himself. The whisky matures in traditional oak and American first-fill casks, and is made with water from the same streams Smith used in his attempt to create the definitive Speyside malt. Glenlivet see it as a fitting tribute to the original vision of their pioneering founder, George Smith. It captures the distinct, smooth and fruity taste that he first envisioned in 1824, and for which we are still renowned today. And because we remain as dedicated to innovation as our founder ever was, we've given this classic single malt a contemporary twist.
