Matured in oak casks, this Batch 1 malt whisky from the Work in Progress range has been distilled at the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. This Campbeltown distillery was reopened by J&A Mitchell in 2004 after closing in 1925, the Glengyle brand name had been previously sold to Bloch Bros, leaving the distillery’s new owners to consider an alternative name for its single malt. Kilkerran – Cille Chiarain in Gaelic was chosen as this was the original name of the settlement in Campbeltown.
Tasting Notes
Nose - An initial burst of perfume leads you into a sweet, fruity and spicy aroma.
Palate - Cloves, more fruits and sweetness. Still a work in progress, this whisky is already lively, zesty and full of flavour.
Finish - The sweetness lasts all the way to the finish as vanilla lingers.
