The well-peated whiskies in the Kilkerran range, produced at the Glengyle distillery are always very popular with peat lovers. The batch 7 doesn’t disappoint, bottled at 59.1% and 90% bourbon casks with 10% sherry, this is a well balance dram with salty earth peat combined with characteristic sweetness.
Finish: A delicate, creamy ‑nish, there are notes of raspberries, caramelised butter, cranachan and prolonged peat smoke
Nose: Fresh on the nose, reminiscent of morning dew, pine forest and damp gooseberry bushes, with a hemp, vegetal note developing over time.
Palate: The peat comes to the forefront in the palate with a characteristic sweetness detected in notes of toasted marshmallows and s’mores, along with hints of lemon drizzle cake and shortbread.
Finish: The finish sees the continuation of the sweet peat influence and the introduction of a salty note and hints of burnt pretzels and fresh green apples.
