Glenmorangie went and got its hands on some casks that were previously home to one of the rarest fortified wines in the world, Malaga Dulce and produced this wonderful small batch release.
This whisky was initially aged in ex-bourbon casks, and then moved over to the Malaga wine casks for a finishing period before eventually being bottled up at 12 years of age. Rich and full-flavoured single malt from Glenmorangie, an excellent expression for enjoying on a chilly evening.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Milk chocolate, blood orange, sandalwood and a pinch of perfumed malt.
Palate: Malt notes are more vanilla-forward on the palate, supported by helpings of dense honey, jammy sultanas, dates and caramelised nuts.
Finish: Cinnamon, ginger, oatmeal raisin cookies and another dollop of honey.
